Vol. 410 No. 7

Written Answers. - Wage Practices Review.

Madeleine Taylor-Quinn

Ceist:

29 Mrs. Taylor-Quinn asked the Minister for Labour if he will initiate an urgent review of the wage practices of State and semi-State agencies so as to ensure that both men and women are in receipt of equal pay for equal work in the light of the recent Labour Court decision concerning female agricultural advisers in Teagasc.

I am satisfied that in general State and semi-State agencies comply with the provisions of the Anti-Discrimination (Pay) Act, 1974, which confers an entitlement to equal pay. Accordingly, I do not consider it necessary to initiate a review on the lines proposed by the Deputy on the basis of a single case.
