Gender Equality Committee to discuss the implementation of the Citizens’ Assembly on Gender Equality with An Taoiseach Micheál Martin

The Joint Committee on Gender Equality will meet on Wednesday, October 12th to discuss the implementation of the Citizens’ Assembly on Gender Equality with An Taoiseach Micheál Martin.

 

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House between 12:00-13:15.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Ivana Bacik said: “The 45 recommendations of the Citizens’ Assembly on Gender Equality are a blueprint for a gender equal Ireland and call for change across society and in areas such as education, the workplace, politics and the justice system. The Taoiseach plays an essential role overseeing their implementation of on a whole-of-government basis. ”

“The Committee has called for a decision on the holding of a referendum on articles 40.1 and 41 of the Constitution in 2023 and looks forward to discussing this and other recommendations with the Taoiseach.”
